COVID-19: Railway board approves TN Government’s request to cancel all special trains
Coimbatore: In view of the steep increase in COVID-19 cases across the State, the Tamil Nadu has announced that all special trains running within the state will stop operation starting from June 29 to July 15.
In an official announcement from the TN Chief Secretary, it has been informed that the request of the State government to temporarily stop operation of the special trains within the state, in view of the increase of COVID cases has been approved by the railways.
Allegations are rife that operation of special trains from districts with moderate to high COVID cases has largely attributed to the increase in COVID-19 cases in districts like Coimbatore and Tirupur.
With passengers not tested at source, passengers from other districts are undeniably potential carriers of the infection, experts opine.
The following trains remain cancelled between June 29 to July 15.
