Southern Railway Announces Special Trains via Coimbatore for Summer Travel

Southern Railway has announced weekly special trains connecting Ernakulam to Muzaffarpur via Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem to accommodate increased passenger traffic during the summer vacation period starting April 2026.


Coimbatore: The Southern Railway administration has announced the operation of special trains connecting Ernakulam to Muzaffarpur (Bihar) via Coimbatore to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming summer vacation season.

According to the announcement made on April 6, the weekly special trains will run through Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, and Jolarpettai, providing convenient connectivity for travelers during the peak summer period.

Ernakulam – Muzaffarpur Weekly Special Train Details

Train No. 06085 Ernakulam Junction – Muzaffarpur Junction weekly special train will depart from Ernakulam Junction at 9:30 PM on Fridays – April 10, 17, and 24, 2026 – and arrive at Muzaffarpur Junction at 7:30 AM on Monday.

In the return direction, Train No. 06086 Muzaffarpur Junction – Ernakulam Junction weekly special train will depart from Muzaffarpur Junction at 9:15 PM on Mondays – April 13, 20, and 27, 2026 – and reach Ernakulam Junction at 10:45 AM on Thursday.

Coach Composition and Amenities

The special trains will comprise AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, General Second Class coaches, and Luggage-cum-Brake Van with facilities for differently-abled passengers.

Stoppages Along the Route

The trains will stop at Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Perambur, Gudur, Nellore, Tenali, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Duvvada, Pendurthi, Kothavalasa, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Sompeta, Ichchapuram, Brahmapur, Balugaon, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kharagpur, Andul, Dankuni, Barddhaman, Durgapur, Asansol, Chittaranjan, Jamtara, Madhupur, Kiul, Mokama, Bakhtiyarpur, Patna City, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patna Junction, Patliputra, and Hajipur stations.

This initiative by Southern Railway is expected to provide significant relief to passengers traveling between South India and Bihar during the busy summer vacation period, offering enhanced connectivity through major cities in Tamil Nadu.
