Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani on Friday announced that vehicular traffic on Kerala-Coimbatore border will be closed from today, March 20.
Briefing about the precautionary measures undertaken by the district administration he informed that Coronavirus prevention is being undertaken on warfooting, in the district.
"Though there have been no positive of COVID-19 reported in Coimbatore, all precautionary measures as advised by the State and Central government have been implemented. The district administration has been focussing on creating mass awareness", the Collector told.
Elaborating on the preventive measures carried at the Coimbatore - Kerala border, the Collector told "To avoid the spread of Coronavirus from Kerala, all tourist buses, omni buses, government buses, cars and freight vehicles were sprayed with disinfectants. This was carried out at all the checkposts on the borders, including Walayar, Mulli, Melpaaviyoor, Velanthapalayam, Veerappakavundanpudur, Gopalapuram, Meenatchipuram, Vazhukkupaarai and Anaikatti, as a precautionary measure. All check posts will be closed from March 20."
"All vehicular transport from Coimbatore to Kerala and vice versa will be stopped from today. Orders have been issued to the Revenue, Police and Transport Department, to coordinate these activities, in an integrated manner", informed the District Collector.
