Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced that a special train will be operated between Coimbatore and Rameswaram for upcoming Pongal festival.

Earlier, Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan had requested for a special train from Coimbatore-Rameshwaram in view of Pongal festival to help people travel to the Southern districts during the festival season. Accepting the request, the southern railways has announced that a special train will leave to Rameswaram from Coimbatore on January 14.
Accordingly, the special train will leave Coimbatore at 9:45 am on January 14 and January 15 and arrive at Rameswaram at 6:45 pm, the same day. Similarly, the special train between Rameswaram and Coimbatore will leave Rameswaram at 8.40 am on January 15 and January 17 and arrive at Coimbatore at 5:30 pm.
Southern Railway has announced that these special trains will have stoppages at Coimbatore, Pothanur, Pollachi, Udumalaipettai, Palani, Ottancharatram, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Manamadurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Uchippuli, Mandapam and Rameswaram.
MP PR Natarajan has thanked the officials of the railways for acting upon his request.
