Didn't apply for Aadhar Card? Do it now!

The central government-initiated 'Aadhar' bus is in the district to help people living in interior villages enrol for the 12-digit individual identification number.

The bus reached the district on Friday morning and it is scheduled to visit a number of villages in Perur and Kinathukidavu taluks for the next nine days. The bus is equipped with two Aadhar registration counters and the card would be delivered within 45 days of registration, said officials. The idea behind the initiative is to help people, who have been left out to enrol for the unique identification number, to register for the Aadhar card. The bus, which was flagged off at the district collectorate, would visit people living in interior parts of the district at their doorsteps and get them enrolled as per the National Population Register (NPR).

On Friday alone, 85 people were enrolled for the Aadhar card at Madurayapuram village in Perur taluk. The bus would also visit Alandurai, Semmedu and Boluvampatti villages in Madurayapauram. "It will then travel to Kinathukidavu taluk, where it will visit Madukkari and a few other villages there till March 6," said a collectorate official. "The project is carried out in coordination with respective village presidents, officers and tehsildars, so that they can provide the much needed publicity for it," he said.

The fully air-conditioned bus, which arrived the district from Tirupur, features two computer-enabled registration counters and five staff members. Among the staff are two members from Bharat Electronics Limited staff, two assistants and a driver. It would visit villages, where a high number of Aadhaar enrolment is due.
