Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest and during her inaugural address envisaged that deliberations should be made on future strategies in Agricultural Education.
Dr. P. Ramasundaram, Former National Coordinator, NAHEP – IDP headed the meeting. University Officers of TNAU and Heads various Departments have attended the meeting. Dr. S.D Sivakumar, TPO to VC & PI, NAHEP-IDP addressed the participants on Perspectives of Agricultural Education and Human Resource Development, Dr. P. Ramasundaram Former NC, NAHEP – IDP delivered talk on “ICARs’ National Agricultural Education – the Concept / Philosophy” and Dr. N. Senthil, Dean (SPGS) & Director (CPMB) delivered lecture on “Road map for agricultural education at TNAU”.
Some of the deliberations are undertaking dual/ joint degree programmes with international universities, sandwich/ twinning programme with national institutes, academic collaborations with conventional universities, private organizations, CGIAR and ICAR institutes, establishment of satellite campuses and introduction of new degree programmes were discussed.
