Agriculture Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore and Central Academy for State Forest Service, Coimbatore are collaborating to organize a ten day field engineering training on Watershed Management for the 28th Batch of 2022-24 State Forest Service Officer Trainees of CASFOS, Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore, and Central Academy for State Forest Service, Coimbatore are collaborating to organise a ten-day Field Engineering Training on Watershed Management for 2022 - 24 State Forest Service Officer Trainees (28 th Batch) of CASFOS, Coimbatore.
V.Thirunavukarasu, IFS, Principal of CASFOS, Coimbatore delivered the inaugural address and shared the importance of watershed management in forestry and state and central government schemes for watershed development. Dr.Raviraj, Dean, AEC&RI, Coimbatore felicitated the state officers and shared a picture of TNAU's activities over the years and milestones in watershed management to the trainees and briefed about the schedule of lectures, hands-on sessions and field visits.
Dr.Raviraj also thanked Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU and V.Thirunavukarasu, Principal of CASFOS for providing this opportunity to host this watershed management training. The participants are State Forest Officers from various parts of India and multidisciplinary groups (includes Civil Engineering, Forestry, Agriculture, Botany, Electronics etc).
Professors of soil and water conservation engineering Dr. Ravikumar and Dr. Balaji Kannan gave a presentation on the hydrology of watersheds and land use classification following their inaugural session.
