Even as the International Day of Forests is being celebrated across the world on March 21, students of Park College in Coimbatore's Karumathampatti area undertook a cleanliness drive at Courtallam in Coimbatore for which they were felicitated by the Forest Department and college administration.
Coimbatore: To mark the International Day of Forests which is celebrated on March 21, every year, students of Park College in the city's Karumathampatti area were felicitated by various quarters for their involvement in undertaking to clear garbage and clean Courtallam in Coimbatore.
To also mark World Water Day which is celebrated on March 22, the students of the Department of Environment, Park College of Technology, Karumathampatti, Coimbatore, along with their professors arrived at Courtallam in Coimbatore to participate in the cleanliness drive.
Forest Officer Suchindranath, Forest Officer Ranjith, Eco Forester Devaraj, Forest Guard Nataraj and Karuppusamy welcomed the college students who visited Courtallam and greeted them. They also explained to the students about forests and the significance of the International Day of Forests. They were also taught on how to execute the cleanliness drive at Courtallam.
Dr. Anusha Ravi, CEO of Park College, appreciated the efforts and the action of students for initiating the cleanliness drive. Along with congratulating the students, she also congratulated the Principal, Angala Parameswari for spearheading such special events.
