The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation vaccinated over 1,000 community dogs during an intensive Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) drive conducted in Cheranmanagar, Kurichi, Kovaipudur and Veerakeralam, covering Wards 96, 92, 40 and 8 on September 26.
Coimbatore: With stray dog vaccination playing a crucial role in preventing the spread of rabies and protecting public safety, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) vaccinated more than 1,000 stray dogs in a single day.
As part of the ongoing Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) campaign, a special vaccination drive was carried out on September 26 in Cheranmanagar, Kurichi, Kovaipudur and Veerakeralam, covering Wards 96, 92, 40 and 8. During the drive, more than 1,000 stray dogs received anti-rabies shots.
According to Corporation officials, the community dog population in Coimbatore is estimated at 1,11,074. With the objective of achieving Zero Rabies by 2030, the CCMC continues to conduct large-scale ARV camps across the city and intensify its efforts to eliminate the disease and ensure public safety.
