Coimbatore Corporation Ward 27 councillor Ambika Dhanapal carried out multiple inspections in Peelamedu on September 22, 2026. She launched the expanded Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme for Classes 6 to 8 students at Sri Gopal Naidu School, inspected the Amudham ration shop on Giri Amman Kovil Street, reviewed streetlight repair work in Gopal Nagar, Bharathi Colony and Sirungar Nagar, and checked repair of a broken saline water motor on Mariamman Kovil Street, directing contractors to complete work swiftly for uninterrupted lighting and water supply to residents.
Coimbatore: Ward 27 councillor Ambika Dhanapal carried out a series of inspections across Peelamedu on September 22, 2026, covering a new breakfast scheme launch, a ration shop review, streetlight repairs and a drinking water motor fix.
At Sri Gopal Naidu Higher Secondary School in Peelamedu, falling under Coimbatore Corporation North Zone Ward 27 within the Singanallur assembly constituency, the expanded Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme was launched for students of Classes 6, 7 and 8 on the morning of September 22, 2026. Councillor Ambika Dhanapal took part in the event held at the school and formally started the scheme.
She then inspected the breakfast being served to the students and enquired about the arrangements made for the meal. The school headmaster, teachers, ward supervisor Eeswari and students were present at the event.
Separately, Ambika Dhanapal visited the Amudham ration shop operating on Giri Amman Kovil Street in Peelamedu the same morning and inspected its functioning. She spoke with members of the public to check whether essential commodities were being distributed properly at the shop, and reviewed the distribution of goods and the shop's overall operations. Ration shop staff were present during the inspection.
In another part of the ward, repair work on damaged streetlights in Gopal Nagar, Bharathi Colony and Sirungar Nagar areas of Peelamedu was carried out on the morning of September 22, 2026. Ambika Dhanapal visited the site to inspect the work and instructed the contractor to completely repair all the damaged streetlights in these areas and finish the work quickly so that residents get uninterrupted lighting. She also asked that the streetlights be ensured to function properly on a continuing basis.
A damaged saline water motor on Mariamman Kovil Street in Peelamedu was also taken up for repair on the same morning. Ambika Dhanapal inspected the work in person and instructed the contractor to repair the damaged motor by that evening and take steps to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the public.
She further asked that the repair work be completed swiftly and that water distribution begin immediately, keeping in mind the drinking water needs of residents.
