Tragic Accident in Udumalai: Boy Loses Life After Electrocution

In Udumalai, a boy tragically lost his life due to electrocution while retrieving a cricket ball from a roof near the TNEB office on Tiruppur Road. The incident has deeply affected the local community.


Udumalai: In a heart-wrenching incident, a young boy lost his life to electrocution in Udumalai, located in Tirupur district. The accident occurred near the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board's (TNEB) engineering office on Tiruppur Road, where there exists a vacant lot used by TNEB employees for playing cricket.

While playing cricket, a ball hit by one of the kids landed on the cement roofing of a nearby structure. An eighth-grade student named Prabhu climbed the building to retrieve it. Unexpectedly, he came into contact with a high-tension electric wire above the building and suffered severe electric shock, leading to a fire engulfing his body.

Local residents, alarmed by his screams, immediately called for help. TNEB employees rushed to his rescue and managed to retrieve the severely burned boy from the rooftop. His clothes were completely burned in the incident.



Emergency services promptly transported the boy to the Udumalai Government Hospital, where he received initial treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for further care. Despite all efforts, the boy unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The Udumalai Police have registered a case and are currently investigating the tragic accident. The local community has been left in deep sorrow by this distressing event.
