Coimbatore District Cricket Association league matches to resume after a green signal from the Government
The COVID 19 pandemic has spread worldwide affecting people from all walks of life. Though the government announced several relaxations, the sports fraternity is yet to receive a go-ahead from the government.
As various league matches including IPL and TNPL were suspended due to the spread of Coronavirus, the league matches underwent the same fate. Even after the latest lockdown relaxation, there was no announcement from the government to carry sports activities.
Since Cricket players and enthusiasts in the city were uncertain about the resumption of league matches, an official from Coimbatore District Cricket Association said that "we are ready to resume league matches after a green signal from the government side".
He further added, "we have completed around 60% of league matches and obviously are looking to complete the rests. We are waiting for permission from the government to conduct matches. Since the virus spread is on the rise now, we have to wait for a couple more months and if the government permits to conduct matches, we will complete the season. Return to games will happen only with the full support of the Government, when the crisis abates."
"There are more chances for league matches to happen after the government's announcement and as of now, the association has no plan to abandon the rest of the matches for this season," he informed.
