Xiaomi Redmi Go launched: Price in India, full specifications, features

Xiaomi Redmi Go has joined a small league phones to have Google’s lightweight operating system. Android Go allows low-end phones to deliver faster performance despite RAM and storage restrictions. The system is backed by lightweight versions of all key Google apps including Maps Go, Assistant Go, and Google Go. Redmi Go users will also get unlimited storage on Google Photos, and Google Assistant in Hindi, English and ‘Hinglish’.

Redmi Go also comes with some India-centric features such as support for over 20 regional languages and Google Assistant in Hindi. Redmi Go will be available in two colour options of blue and black.

Xiaomi Redmi Go will compete with phones such as Samsung Galaxy J2 Core, Nokia 1, Nokia 2.1, Micromax Bharat Go and Lava Z50, all running on Google’s Android Go platform.

Xiaomi Redmi Go full specifications

Xiaomi Redmi Go features a 5-inch HD display with 16:9 aspect ratio, 296 pixel density, 720p resolution, and 72% NTSC (typ) colour gamut. Redmi Go also features night light, and ambient display with key alerts on lock screen.

It runs on Android Go and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone is available in 8GB and 16GB built-in storage variants.

Xiaomi Redmi Go sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with HDR mode and full HD video recording support. It also has a 5-megapixel selfie camera with HDR support.

Xiaomi’s latest smartphone supports dual-SIM with dedicated microSD card tray which means users can use two SIMs as well as expandable storage card as well.

Other features include Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and GPS. The phone doesn’t offer a fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Redmi Go also comes with dual mic noise reduction for better call quality.

Xiaomi also launched its UPI-based payment system, Mi Pay in India. Mi Pay was first introduced in December, 2018 in beta mode and it will be available soon through Mi Apps store.
