Facebook for Android will now allow users to save videos for offline viewing

Facebook is currently testing its offline video feature in India. This feature, allows users to save videos in the ‘Saved’ section of the app and can be viewed offline, as and when required.

According to a report by Android Police, the option to save videos is currently showing up in versions 85 and 86 (beta) of the app. Users can select the ‘Save video’ option from the drop-down menu in a particular video. This option is similar to YouTube’s offline features as well, which allow users to save videos offline, and watch them later.

The report points out that Facebook’s offline video content will only be available on the app to protect copyrighted content, and the company is also giving publishers the option of disabling download for their content in order to protect copyrighted content. However, original videos which are posted on personal profiles will get the offline video option.
