TMC to announce alliance by March end: S.R. Balasubramoniam

Continuing to remain mum on the party’s possible alliance in the upcoming Assembly elections, former Union Minister and one of the senior leaders of the Tamil Manila Congress (TMC) S.R. Balasubramoniam said that his party’s alliance would be formed based on people’s outlook.

Meeting with media persons here on Tuesday the veteran politician said that rumours were being circulated in the media about various alliance possibilities but the truth was that the party’s stand on alliance would be made known only by end March after the party’s committee meeting.

“We have been touring the State with G.K. Vasan. He has himself touring more than 170 constituencies, while the remaining was covered by the rest of the leaders. We are currently getting queries from people and will plan on an alliance based on the mindset of the people,” he added.

Refusing to respond to a question raised by a journalist if his party would be teaming with the ruling AIADMK, Balasubramoniam said that decisions would be taken only after considering the stand of the party men by end March.

Condemning the Central Government for reducing the price of coconut oil and kernel, Balasubramoniam also stated that the government should control the blending of palm oil in coconut oil and groundnut oil.

“Farmers are largely affected as the government is not procuring coconut oil from them. The government should come forward to directly procure coconut oil from farmers and try to control the import of palm oil,” he added.

He further stated that if oils were blended, the percentage of each ingredient should be mentioned in the packets.
