Tiger is dead but fear persists in Nilgiris

A plantation worker was mauled to death by a carnivore on March 11 (Friday). Going by pug marks and camera trap images, it was established that the carnivore was a tiger and also that it had sustained injuries on its legs and stomach. After a week long effect to capture the animal, the operation ended with the killing of the tiger.

A small section of workers turned up for work after seven days on Monday. The administration was trying to get them wages for the period.

Plantation workers sought enhanced levels of security and explaining the practical difficulties involved in scaling up the protection measures.
