Kovai Medical Center Hospital observes World Hand Hygiene Day

The Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) celebrated the World Hand Hygiene Day today, May 5.

A release from the hospital said that basic facilities like well-designed wash-basins, elbow-operated taps holding two different kinds of soap solutions are used at the KMCH. The hospital continues to educate its staff and the public on the importance of properly washing the hands.

As part of its campaign for good hand hygiene, the KMCH has placed disposable tissue towels at all washing sites to ensure that no bacteria is left after the process of washing the hands.

A recent study carried out in underdeveloped countries points out that 38 percent of the population lacks access to drinking water, 19 percent lack sanitation, and 35 percent do not have water and soap for washing their hands.
