Bizman murder: Three held for sibling rivalry-provoked killing

Three men have been arrested by police for the murder of a 30-year-old businessman on Thursday. The trio had murdered the businessman and burnt his body so that he could not be identified by the police when the body was found on April 19. On further investigation, it turned out that the businessman was murdered by his own brother over business feud.

On April 19, an unidentified body was found in an isolated area near a railway track on the Chettipalayam-Myleripalayam Road. Though the body was burnt below the hip, it was obvious that the man was tortured and murdered. His hands and legs were tied with a cloth and blood stains were found five feet away from the scene.

After a thorough investigation, the Chettipalayam Police learnt that the body belonged to 38-year-old P Sudhakar, a resident of Vinayagar Temple Street in Madukkarai. Both he and his brother Maheshwaran, 30, were in the vermi-compost business. Police learned that the brothers fought often over the name of Sudhakar's business. Maheshwaran felt that his brother's business had a similar name to that of his. This was hurting his business, he said.

Officials in the rural police said that Maheshwaran ended up hiring two men from Tirunelveli to assault his brother and threaten him. The hired men were D Albert, 36 and R Rajaram, 39. The police said that the two men assaulted Sudhakar as per their agreement, but ended up murdering him when Sudhakar began threatening them.

"The two men claimed that Sudhakar threatened to kill them by hiring a gang from Kerala. The men then tied Sudhakar up and slit his throat," said a police official on the case. "They then disposed of his body near Chettipalayam and set it on fire," he further said.

Rajaram, a history-sheeter, already has cases of kidnapping and rioting registered against him in Tirunelveli and Coimbatore.
