The district administration officials have, thus far, registered 266 cases for violation of the model code of conduct.

A press release issued here says that officials in Mettupalayam Assembly constituency have registered the maximum number of cases – 54, followed by those in Coimbatore South Assembly constituency – 53. Kinathukadavu Assembly constituency has seen the minimum number of cases – three.

Flying squad officials on Friday seized Rs. 53.93 lakh but soon returned as those carrying it furnished documents to claim ownership.

Cash seized

In the Nilgiris district, the flying squad officials seized Rs. 3.91 lakh from two persons in the Udhagamandalam and Gudalur Assembly constituencies.

The Udhagamandalam seizure was at Ithalar and the Gudalur one was at Nadukani, says a press release from the district administration.
