Three held for selling ganja to students

Three persons, including a college student, were arrested by the city police on Tuesday for selling the contraband item to college students at Kuniyamuthur area.

Based on a tip-off that ganja was sold being near a private college, the police conducted a raid and arrested Pradeep (23), of Villupuram, and college student Harish Babu (19), who were selling it near a bush on the Palakkad Main Road.

Inquiry revealed that Harish got ganja from Pradeep and Kattoor Ravi (52) and a few other suppliers.

Ravi was arrested near an overbridge, near Ondipudur, by Singanallur Police and one kg ganja was seized from the accused.

Around 600 grams ganja was seized from two others. Further investigations are on into the seizures.




Child drowns

One-year-old girl P. Sarathy of Swamy Iyer New Street on the Variety Hall Road reportedly drowned in a tub of water in her house on Wednesday.

According to the police, preliminary inquiry revealed that the girl accidentally slipped and fell into the tub while playing. The Variety Hall Road Police are looking into the incident.
