Woman's body found at Pollachi Railway Station

A 42-year-old woman from Alanganallur in Madurai district was found murdered at the Pollachi Railway Station on Tuesday.

The woman has suffered a slit on her neck.

Three special teams have been formed to arrest the accused, said the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Pollachi Sub Division, T. Charles said.

On Tuesday morning residents of Pollachi town who go to the railway station for their regular morning walk saw the body near the station’s platform and informed the police.

The police have identified the deceased as P. Malathi (42), a resident of Ramnagar in Dindigul. Camera recordings showed the woman getting down from an autorickshaw near the two-wheeler parking stand along with two men, around 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The autorickshaw identified one of the pictures in her mobile phone as the man who accompanied her. His mobile phone was switched off.

The police said that the murder may not be for gain, as a gold chain was remaining intact on the body.
