Travel agents Association launched in Coimbatore

The Travel Agents Association of Coimbatore was inaugurated on Thursday evening.

The organization made up of more than 30 travel agents, based in the district, was formed to create a section of trustworthy agents, update themselves on latest trends on travel and share their contact base. Protecting the welfare of travel agents in the face of adversity was also another aim.

The organization, which inaugurated itself on Thursday, already has 33 registered members. They also have allied members in terms of hoteliers, tour operators and private cab service providers. "We have brought in a few minimum qualifications to be a part of the association like paying a subscription fee of Rs5,000 a year and having either a proper owned or rented office," said the association secretary, B Selvaraju.

"This is to ensure that every agent who claims to be a part of the association is of a certain standard, pays service tax and follows all norms and regulations," he said clarifying that agents who work from home are not permitted inside the association.
