Four held for selling liquor on ‘dry’ day

The rural police arrested four people on Tuesday night for selling liquor illegally from a Tasmac bar during a dry day at Kinathukadavu. Police have seized 230 liquor bottles and 20,175 from them.

The arrested were identified as R Ramesh, 27, S Ravichandran, 29, R Ranjith, 24 and M Surya, 23, all hailing from Ramanathapuram district. They worked in a Tasmac bar at Kinathukadavu. All Tasmac shops were shut as part of the Mahavir Jayanti celebrations on Tuesday.

The district election control room received a phone call about the illegal sale of liquor at the Tasmac bar on Tuesday. Police arrested the four for selling liquor illegally. They were booked under various sections of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act 1937 and remanded to judicial custody.
