Woman techie hangs herself at residence

A 26-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging on Sunday at her residence at Karattumedu near Kovilpalayam after fighting with her husband.

The deceased was identified as Kalavathi, wife of Mahadev Prakash from Rajan Layout at Karattumedu in Kovilpalayam. Police said Kalavathi was working in an IT company at Saravanampatti. She was from Kariyampalayam village at Annur and married Mahadev almost two years ago. The couple has an 11-month-old son.

The couple reportedly had been working for a long stretch without taking a day off. Kalavathi's mother M Kannammal, 52 from Kariyampalayam took care of the infant and cooked for the couple every day.

Kalavathi did the household chores and took care of the son only on weekends. However, she couldn't manage both, which resulted in frequent quarrel between the couple.

On Sunday, since she didn't prepare food, Mahadev fought with her and brought food from outside around afternoon. However, Kalavathi did not eat it. Later, her husband went to sleep on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, Kalavathi committed suicide by hanging from ceiling fan using her sari. All women police from Thudiyalur came to the spot and sent her body for post mortem.

The body was then handed over to the Kalavathi's relatives on Sunday. Further investigation is on.
