Southwest monsoon likely to strike Karnataka today or tomorrow

Southwest monsoon is likely to strike Karnataka either on Tuesday or Wednesday, said a senior official with the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Cell (KSNDMC). On set of the monsoon in the state has been delayed by a few days.

"There's been a delay in the south-west monsoon lashing the state because of a depression in the Arabian Sea, and the rain-bearing clouds from Kerala moving towards the west," said GS Srinivas Reddy, director of KSNDMC. Reddy said that the depression was likely to disappear by Monday night. "From Tuesday, the clouds will not be driven towards the west anymore," he added.

The KSNDMC had earlier forecast that the monsoon would arrive in Karnataka by May 29.
