Faulty street lights trouble road users on busy stretch

Accidents are prone to happen in the absence of street lights

Driving on the Ondipudur stretch of the Tirchy Road has become a nightmare for motorists. On many of the poles in the median, only one of the two lights glows. In many others both the lights don’t glow.

This gives a tough time to road users as the stretch is always busy with buses moving to and from the nearby Singanallur bus stand. It also the stretch where intersections are high and two-wheeler riders and four-wheeler drivers keep criss-crossing.

The area Councillor S.M. Samy says the problem has been there and also on the Ondipudur flyover for the past two months. He has asked the Coimbatore Corporation officials to fix the fault and the response has been quite slow.

On the Ondipudur flyover, the lights don’t glow because the cable carrying power to the lights gets snapped as buses keeping moving in and out of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation depot that is right beneath the bridge.
