Aero show gets underway

Aeroplus 2016, the three-day aero show got underway at the Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences in Kuniamuthur on Friday. The Nehru Group of Institutions is organising the show.

A release said that the highlight of this year’s show was the Thunder Taker Rapter 50, a small helicopter that was flying within the campus. The small, three-foot copter run on nitro-methanol drew the attention of the visitors.

Phoenix Technologies had introduced the copter in the show. The release said that the copter could be operated from two km. It had the capacity to fly at 70 kmph and the company people demonstrated the capabilities of the flying machine. To encourage the visitors to take an interest in aeronautics, the company also gave chuck gliders to the visitors. The added attractions at the show were Hawker I A aircraft, Beach Craft King Air C-90, Cesna 150 D the 1960-made Enstorm F 28 helicopters and much more. Also on display were a miniature of an international airport. Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramamurthy was the chief guest at the inauguration of the aero show.

Vidyadhar S. Bangera, Licensed Aircraft Engineer, Iceland, was the guest of honour. Krishnadas, managing trustee, Nehru Group of Institutions, presided over the function. P. Krishnakumar, chief executive officer, was present.
