Injured Leopard Rescued after Fight among its Own Species in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border at Puliyampathy, two leopards clashed, leaving one injured. The Forest Department captured and is currently treating the wounded leopard.


Coimbatore: A significant wildlife rescue operation unfolded near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border in Puliyampathy, Coimbatore, where two leopards were reported to have engaged in a fierce fight.



Local residents noticed one of the leopards with injuries lying in nearby Kerala-owned forest land and alerted the Kerala State Forest Department.

Upon arrival, the department found the injured male leopard, which unexpectedly charged at them.



After a prolonged effort, the animal was safely sedated, trapped using a net, and confined in a cage. It was then transported to the Silent Valley Forest Department camp for intensive medical treatment. Meanwhile, footage of the leopard attempting to attack the forest officers has gone viral on social media, highlighting the dangers and challenges faced by wildlife officials.

The rapid response and effective handling of the situation by the forest department have been commended. The injured leopard is now receiving the necessary care to recover from its ordeal.
