Coimbatore: A residential burglary in Singanallur, Trichy Road, has left homeowner Carmel Venugopal, aged 60, at a loss. Venugopal, who had left for the USA with his wife in April, was informed by a neighbor on June 9 that his apartment's door was forcibly opened.
Upon receiving the call, Venugopal immediately contacted his friend, Nandagopal from Kovai Irugur, to inspect his house. It was discovered that an unidentified intruder had broken the door and stolen Rs 1 lakh from the premises. Nandagopal reported the incident to the Singanallur police station for further action.
In response, police and fingerprint experts visited the house to collect evidence, successfully retrieving a fingerprint from the scene. Additionally, they are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras as part of the ongoing investigation into the burglary.
