The NEET (UG) 2024 results were released 10 days early, raising concerns over transparency and fairness.
Coimbatore:
The NEET (UG) 2024 exam results have become the subject of controversy and scrutiny. Initially scheduled for announcement on 14th June, the results were released on 4th June, a full 10 days ahead of the scheduled date. This unexpected early release has raised suspicions, especially given the concurrent national election results.
Most coaching institutions, which often claim top rankers, have remained silent about six top scorers from the Haryana Center. This center, already under suspicion, has produced 8 toppers, 7 of whom have only disclosed their first names, keeping their family names hidden.

AIIMS Delhi, with 56 seats, faces an unprecedented situation where even top-ranked students might not secure their desired seats. The NEET exam's history shows that while achieving perfect scores has been rare, 67 students attained a perfect score of 720/720 this year, a drastic increase compared to previous years.
Let us look at the topper scores in previous years:
- 2021: Highest score was 720/720, with 3 students achieving it.
- 2022: No student achieved a perfect score, the highest being 715 by 4 students.
- 2023: Two students got the perfect score.
- 2024: 67 students attained 720/720.
The National Testing Agency's (NTA) tie-breaker system has also come under fire. With 67 students achieving identical scores, the NTA's use of application numbers as a tie-breaker has been criticized as arbitrary. Additionally, there are significant discrepancies in the ranking for given marks compared to previous years, leading to concerns about the exam's integrity.
The marks needed for a rank according to @careers360:
- At 700 marks, in 2023 the rank was 294. In 2024 it is 1770.
- At 650 marks, in 2023 the rank was 6803. In 2024 it is 21724.
- At 600 marks, in 2023 the rank was 28629. In 2024 it is 80468.
Such variance in one year is deemed impossible. Moreover, some students received scores of 717, 718, and 719, which is mathematically impossible in an exam where a correct answer has 4 marks and a wrong answer has negative 1 mark.

Critics are calling for an immediate investigation by the NTA, the Ministry of Education, and the National Medical Commission to ensure transparency and fairness for all students. A coaching institute, Gurukripa, has reported that they have 5 students with a perfect score and over 100 students scoring above 700 marks.
The NEET (UG) 2024 is being labeled as a potential scam, with students ultimately suffering the consequences. It is imperative that authorities address these concerns promptly and transparently.
