Coimbatore: In a distressing incident near Udumalai, Tirupur district, nine individuals have been arrested for their involvement in sexually assaulting a 17-year-old orphan girl.
The girl, who resides with her grandparents, reported the continual abuse leading to her pregnancy. Upon noticing physical changes, her grandmother inquired, uncovering the abuse that involved three minors among the attackers.
Following the complaint lodged at the all-women police station, individuals named Kaleswaran (19), Madankumar (19), Paranikumar (21), Prakash (24), Nandagopal (19), Bawa Bharathi (22), and three unnamed minors aged 14, 15, and 16, were arrested under the POCSO Act. The police are conducting further investigations into this harrowing event that has shaken the local community.
