Police Vehicle Involved in Accident in Dharapuram, Creates Controversy with CCTV Footage

On May 4, a police vehicle transporting YouTuber Savukku Shankar in Dharapuram collided with another vehicle. CCTV footage exposes alleged cover-up attempts by police.


Tirupur: In a controversial incident that unfolded in Dharapuram on May 4, a police vehicle carrying noted YouTuber Savukku Shankar to Coimbatore, after his arrest in Theni, was involved in a road accident.



The vehicle, reportedly driven recklessly, collided with another car at the ITI Corner in Dharapuram, leading to vast uproar after CCTV footage of the incident was leaked online.

Savukku Shankar was arrested early that morning by Coimbatore Cyber Crime Police while staying in Theni. As the police were transporting him to Coimbatore, the accident took place near Dharapuram. Local resident Loganathan, who was driving the other car involved, confirmed the occurrence. This serious allegation has sparked debates on social media, accusing the police of mishandling the situation and attempting to delete nearby CCTV footage, specifically from a Renault showroom, to cover up their tracks. However, the footage has since become public, adding to the controversy.
