Two-day conference on transforming patient care

The second convention of the Indian Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (IACP) will be held in Coimbatore from April 2 to 3 at Hotel Le Meridien. The theme of the convention is The Responsible Pharmacist: Transforming Patient Care'.

Addressing the media today, Dr. B. Suresh, President, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, and Vice-Chancellor, JSS University, Mysuru said: The IACP in the last few years has been promoting the concept of pharmacy practice and education by organising pharmacy practice modules in advanced learning series covering various systems and areas in oncology, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, and nephrology among others. These efforts have generated keen interest among the students who are pursing Pharm.D. course and also those who are pursing Masters Programme in pharmacy practice."

At the convention, the advances that are currently emerging globally in the area of pharmacy education and patient care would be discussed. The scientific programme would include a mix of plenary lectures, poster presentations and group discussions in various specialised areas.

As many as 1,500 delegates are expected to participate in this two-day event. Dr. B. Suresh, President, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, Mike Rouse, Assistant Executive Director, ACEP, Chicago, Dr. B. S. Ajay Kumar, Chairman and CEO, Healthcare Global Enterprises Limited, Dr. Debra Rowett, President, Australian Pharmacy Council, Australia, Mir Imran AN, Quintiles Research Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, Ashok Soni, President Royal Pharmaceutical Society, London, Krishna Kumar, Professor, Howard University, Washington, Sten Olsson, World Health Organisation (WHO) Pharmacovigilance monitoring centre, Sweden, will deliver their address.

For his contributions towards the development of pharmacy education and practice in India, Michael J. Rouse, Assistant Executive Director, Professor Affairs and Director, International Services, Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), Chicago, Illinois, will be honoured with the Distinguished Service Award 2016.
