Tirupur, Udumalai: The MGR Makkal Iyakkam, during a consultation meeting held at their headquarters in Udumalai, Tirupur district, led by their leader Liyaqat Ali Khan, has declared its support for the India Alliance in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. The announcement was made in light of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's commendable efforts in building a strong governance structure across India, which is believed to lead the alliance to a resounding victory nationwide in the upcoming elections.

Liyaqat Ali Khan highlighted the importance of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) brought by the current central government and the widespread opposition it has faced from various states, including Tamil Nadu. He commended Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for his staunch resistance against the CAA, which is seen as a move that could potentially stir unrest and violence among the populace. The MGR People's Movement's support for the India Alliance is also a stance against the CAA, reflecting the Tamil Nadu government's views and opposition to the law.

The leader assured that candidates representing the India Alliance would secure an overwhelming victory in the elections, particularly in the Pollachi parliamentary constituency, where the movement will tirelessly work to ensure their success.

The consultation meeting saw the participation of leaders from various political parties, including the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi's Tirupur South District Secretary Satheesh Kumar, the Indian Communist Party's District Secretary Murthy, Dravida Tamil Party's Thangavel, Tamil Cultural Forum's Paul Narayanan, Abbas, MGR People's Movement District Secretary Sagul Hameed, and Govindraj from Andiyur, showing a united front in support of the India Alliance and opposition to the CAA.
