Revised RTE fees for next academic year notified

The fees being reimbursed to private schools for admitting students under RTE for the academic year 2017-18 had been notified on March 23, the government informed the high court on Tuesday.

In the notification placed before the court, the government fixed Rs 16,000 as cost per head for the class I and above against the existing Rs 11,848, and Rs 8,000 for each pre-primary student as against the existing Rs 5,924 in government schools. It asked the department to reimburse private institutions at this rate for admitting students under RTE quota.

Taking the notification on record, a division bench dropped contempt proceedings against Ajay Seth, principal secretary to the education department, based on a contempt petition filed by Associated Managements of Government Recognised English Medium Schools in Karnataka (KAMS).
