Plea to increase train services to Jodhpur

Members of the Rajasthani Association Tamil Nadu urged P.P. Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, to increase train services from Chennai to Jodhpur.

“Currently, there is only one weekly train - the Jodhpur Express - and it does not have pantry cars. Most people use the Navajeevan Express and go to Ahmedabad first, and then to Jodhpur, which is very inconvenient. We request that the Navajeevan Express be extended up to Jodhpur,” Kantilal D. Shah, president of the association, said at an awards function. Mr. Chaudhary said he had pitched for more trains with Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

“The Railway Minister told me that there are infrastructure issues. He has asked me to wait for two years and said that once the infrastructure improves, there would be more trains,” he said.

The Minister was in Chennai for the presentation of awards to outstanding Rajasthanis.

Devji M. Patel, Member of Parliament, also participated.

A total of six awards were presented under three categories.
