Allegations of Police Intimidation in Civil Case Against Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner Ragupathi Raja

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ragupathi Raja accused of intimidating a family in a civil case in Coimbatore, despite ADGP's directive against police interference in such matters.

Coimbatore: Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ragupathi Raja, is facing allegations of intimidating a family involved in a civil lawsuit in Coimbatore. The complaint has been lodged with the Coimbatore Police Commissioner.

The issue revolves around Shanmugam, a resident of Sundakkamuthur in Coimbatore district. Facing health problems, Shanmugam and his wife borrowed two lakh rupees from a person named Anand, using their land as collateral. However, Anand allegedly transferred the land title to another individual and sold the property without Shanmugam's knowledge, leading to a legal dispute.

Shanmugam approached the police and filed an FIR. He later took the matter to the Coimbatore District Court, where it is currently pending. Despite the ongoing court proceedings, it is alleged that DCP Ragupathi Raja has been intimidating Shanmugam and his family with the support of local police officials from Kuniamuthur Police Station.

In a recent visit to Shanmugam's property, DCP Ragupathi Raja reportedly threatened the workers present there. This incident comes in the wake of an ADGP report last week, explicitly stating that the police should not interfere in civil cases, highlighting a serious breach of conduct.

This incident has raised questions about police conduct and the adherence to legal procedures, especially in civil cases where the police are expected to remain neutral.
