Progressive organisations protest against TN Governor's visit to Coimbatore by waving black flags on Lawley Road

The protestors alleged that the Governor was behaving in the Tamil Nadu Assembly without respect for the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu.


Coimbatore: Even as the Tamil Nadu Governor, R N Ravi arrived in Coimbatore to grace the 38th convocation ceremony held at the Bharathiar University, a black flag protest was held against the Governor by progressive organisations in the Lawley Road area.



"The Governor was behaving in the Tamil Nadu Assembly without respect for the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu," alleged the protestors.



Over 30 people from various organisations, including the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan, participated in the protest and raised slogans against the Governor holding black flags in their hands.



They were detained by the police who were on security duty for the Governor's visit which created a tense situation in the area.
