On the occasion of World Yoga Day, students participating in the ongoing NCC training camp at Pioneer Higher Secondary School, Periyanaickenpalayam performed yoga asanas.
Coimbatore: On World Yoga Day, students from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) training camp at Kattanchi hills near Selvapuram performed yoga asanas.
A 10-day training camp for NCC students is going on at Pioneer Higher Secondary School in Jothipuram, near Periyanaickenpalayam. NCC students from 13 educational institutions in the Coimbatore district, including corporation schools, Sarvajana Higher Secondary School, and PSG College, took part in the event.
Aparna Rajkumar, Secretary, Pioneer Institutes of Education, inaugurated the World Yoga Day celebrations on Wednesday.
Padmanabhan, administrative officer of pioneer educational institutions, presided over the occasion. More than 450 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets lined up on the ground and performed various yoga asanas.
All of them were then taken to Kattanchi Hill near Selvapuram. Major P Ashok Kumar, commanding officer of the camp, explained the importance of yoga day there.
Assistant Commanding Officer Vijayakumar Reddy explained the essential need and importance of Yoga, which was developed by the saints who lived in harmony with nature, and the purpose for today's youth to follow it.

Later, more than 10 yoga asanas were performed by the NCC sitting on the rocks on the hill tops, much to the delight of the visitors on the mountain path.

NCC officials and physical education teachers from various schools participated in these programmes. The arrangements for this were made by Rajmohan, ncc officer of passenger higher secondary school.
