Signature campaign to create voter awareness


To increase voter awareness and encourage all eligible people to vote, District Election Officer and Collector Archana Patnaik on Tuesday inaugurated a signature campaign. A release from the Coimbatore Corporation said that the Collector signed on the flex board that was kept outside the Coimbatore Corporation main office to inaugurate the campaign.

The release said that Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Deputy Commissioner P. Gandhimathi, Assistant Collector, Training, Grace Pachuau, District Revenue Officer T. Christuraj also signed on the flex board promising to vote on May 16, the polling day.

Ms. Gandhimathi, who is also the Returning Officer for the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency, had conducted several other initiatives such as awareness rallies, vehicle rally, street play, folk dance and other programmes to create awareness among the voters in the constituency.

The Collector also kick-started a campaign of pasting voter-awareness stickers on autorickshaws and call taxis at the Lakshmi Mills Junction in the city.
