Combine breakfast for students with the nutritious meal plan - protest in Dharapuram

Tamil Nadu Noon Meal Employees' Union staged a protest demanding Rs 5 lakh for the organisers as gratuity to the retired employees in Dharapuram. They also demanded a gratuity of Rs 3 lakh for cooking assistants.



Tirupur: The Tamil Nadu Noon Meal Employees' Union staged a protest in front of the Dharapuram Panchayat Union office to draw the attention of the Chief Minister to various demands.

The protest was led by union vice-president K Rathinam. Union secretary N Padma and district joint secretary Jayanthi explained the demands.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme should be linked to the Noon Meal Programme and implemented through noon meal centres with noon meal staff.

Vacancies should be filled up immediately. The gratuity for retired employees should be increased to Rs 5 lakh for organisers and Rs 3 lakh for cooking assistants. A minimum pension of Rs 9,000 along with family security should also be paid.



Slogans were raised at the demonstration to press for their demands, including the abolition of special periodic pay and payment of periodic wages.

Government Employees Union Circle Branch President K Senthilkumar, Administrator Manimozhi and Noon Meal Employees Union office bearers Chandralekha, Sujatha, Selvam, Pushpa, Anandhi, Vasanthamani and many others participated in the meeting.
