'BJP leader Annamalai to lead protest in Coimbatore on December 7 in support of Annur farmers:' G K Nagaraj, BJP Farmers' Wing leader

Condemning the TN Govt. for acquiring land at Annur for setting up an industrial estate, Annamalai will lead a demonstration in support of the farmers would be held at Annur junction under the leadership of Annamalai, on December 7.

Coimbatore: BJP Farmers' Wing leader G K Nagaraj announced that a protest will be held in Coimbatore under the leadership of BJP President Annamalai on December 7, in support of the farmers of Annur.

G K Nagaraj, the State President of the BJP's Farmers' Wing addressed the media at the Coimbatore Press Club.

"The Tamil Nadu Government has issued an order to acquire 3,731.57 acres of agricultural land in Annur despite the opposition of the farmers. Following this, the farmers are protesting against the shutdown with a hunger strike.

The BJP will take the protest forward if the Tamil Nadu Government refuses to heed the Annur farmers' protest. BJP State President Annamalai is scheduled to stage a protest at Annur junction on December 7, demanding quashing of the Government's order to acquire agricultural land in Annur."

"When the Avinashi-Athikadavu project was implemented and 115 ponds were filled up, Annur was preparing for agriculture but the Government issued an order to acquire land for setting up an industrial estate. Similarly, the Tamil Nadu Government has thus far not taken any steps to control or kill wild boars despite the Centre's guidelines to shoot wild boars that emerge out of the forest into agricultural land.

A protest will be held in Coimbatore on December 14 to protest against this. If the Tamil Nadu government does not pay heed to this, the farmers will go forward," he added.

G K Nagaraj also added that the Central Government had nothing to do with the cancellation of the 14 licences of the Thudiyalur Co-operative Agricultural Society (TUCAS). "This is the work of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

At the same time, the Communist parties are spreading false propaganda on the TUCAS issue by blaming the Central Government. A protest will be held in Coimbatore against the Tamil Nadu government for this too," he further added.
