Leopard delivers four cubs in human habitat

A leopard, today, delivered four cubs behind a school in a human habitat near Pandalur, some 80 km from Coimbatore.

A resident noticed a leopard carrying a cub in its mouth to the jungles and found three more cubs lying near a bush at the school and informed the Forest Department officials.

The officials, led by Ranger Ganesan rushed to the spot and after seeing the cubs, asked the residents not to go near them or disturb as the mother leopard could come any time to take away the remaining cubs.

If the cubs were taken and released or taken to look after by the Department, there was the possibility of the leopard getting ferocious and attacking the residents.

Hence, the Department personnel are guarding the cubs, Ganesan said.
