Monsoon Maladies: How To Use Neem Leaves For Dengue Fever

Dengue, a viral fever, is a vector-borne disease, which means it needs a vector (transmitter) to get spread. Aedes aegypti mosquito or commonly known as the "tiger mosquito" is the vector for this dreadful virus. There are four types of dengue viruses found. 

A wide range of symptoms are found for Dengue, including fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, and rashes. In a few cases, long-term fatigue is also observed. In a case of delay in treatment, Dengue may get life-threatening with a fast reduction in blood platelet count. 

Therefore, taking the queue from the above-stated facts, it is quite clear that Monsoon although beautiful, has a dreadful side to it and it is very important that we take precaution in every way possible to keep ourselves disease free, especially from Dengue, so that we can enjoy the season. Neem leaves are a major source of immunity boosters and the below are its uses against Dengue, which is the most dreadful of all the monsoon diseases.

Neem (Azadirachta indica) is an excellent broad-spectrum herb found almost everywhere in India and is getting used in Ayurveda from ancient times. This plant is highly versatile when comes to its use. Almost each and every part of this plant has numerous medicinal benefits. Here, we have listed out the ways in which neem can be used to fight against the deadly disease Dengue.

Drink Neem Infused Water: 

Nimbin and Nimbidin are the chemicals found in neem leaves, which have anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and anti-microbial properties. Boil neem leaves in water and drink the brew at regular intervals, 2-3 times in a day. Results have shown this juice to increase blood platelet and WBC counts in patients who were the major targets of this disease.

Neem Extract And Papaya Leaf Extract: 

Neem leaf extract along with a combination of papaya leaf extract is an excellent remedy to treat Dengue.

Intake Of Neem Leaves: 

Daily intake of neem leaves orally helps to boost immunity, purifies the blood and removes toxins from the body.

Neem Oil Application: 

Neem oil extracted from its fruit and flowers acts as a wonderful mosquito repellent. Application of neem oil topically can reduce the chance of the person being affected by Dengue to a great extent.

Neem Leaves Smoke: 

Prevention is always better than cure. Avoiding mosquitoes is the best possible solution to prevent Dengue. Dry neem leaves can be used to make smoke, which keeps mosquitoes away.
