Coimbatore: Concerning the rise in covid- 19 cases across the state and the district, the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital has mandated wearing masks within the hospital promises.
As of 31st March, the number of fresh covid-19 cases reported in Coimbatore is 14, totalling 108 cases. Chennai leads the list with the highest number of cases of 222, 38 fresh cases. Tamil Nadu reported a total of 777 as of 31st March.
As a precautionary measure to establish preparedness, the CMCH has mandated masks to all patients, visitors and faculty within the premises. In this regard, Dr. Nirmala, Dean, CMCH said to Simplicity, "Hospital being the nucleus of infections of all kinds, including Covid. Hence this initiative is to create awareness among the public for the need to be cautious and avoid infection beforehand. As of today, only 2 active cases have been reported in CMCH. We are taking all measures to reduce and control the spread of infection."
