Coimbatore: On the occasion of World Heart Day, a large number of nurses and students participated in an awareness rally held at the Government Medical College Hospital in Coimbatore and created awareness among the public.
World Heart Day, created by the World Heart Federation, is celebrated on September 29 every year. Heart health is a fundamental human right for all. Heart disease (CVD) is responsible for almost 60% of all NCD (Non communicable diseases) deaths.
In India alone, 30 lakh people die of heart disease every year. This accounts for one-fifth of the global mortality rate. Tobacco use, unhealthy eating and physical inactivity are some of the risk factors.
By controlling these, at least 80% of premature deaths due to heart disease and stroke can be avoided. World Heart Day is celebrated with the aim of advising people.
The aim of World Heart Day 2022 is to protect the society as well.

The symptoms of a heart disorder should always be taken seriously, as it has a direct link between longevity of life and survival.
To avoid heart diseases, it is important to stay healthy, maintain a nutritious diet and avoid alcohol, smoking and unhealthy eating habits.

The World Heart Day celebrations were held at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on behalf of the department of cardiology. Inaugurating the heart disease awareness rally, Medical College Dean Nirmala spoke about protecting people from heart disease.
Then the public was also made aware of how to revive the heart in times of an attack and when the heart stops beating.
