Bringing a ray of hope, medical tourism ispicking up pace, as a Qatar Executive charter flight from Uzbekistan carrying a patient for treatment at Ganga Hospital, landed here at Coimbatore International Airport, at 6:30 PM, on Friday.
According to sources from Aviation department, "For the first time after the pandemic outbreak, Qatar Executive Charter flight from Uzbekistan has arrived to Coimbatore. Apart from cabin crew, a patient and two attenders travelled in this flight for getting treated at Ganga Hospital, here.
"Before the pandemic outbreak, medical tourism was picking up a significant pace in the city. Every month, a minimum of five Charter flights with patients from various foreign countries arrived to Coimbatore International Airport. Many patients also come via domestic sector flight services.
To the contrary, medical tourism took a major hit due to the ongoing Covid outbreak. However, this charter flight's arrival from Uzbekistan is a sign of revival for the medical tourism industry" said a source from aviation department.
