Steady fall in covid cases in district continue; 65% decline in last 18 days

Coimbatore: On Tuesday, the Coimbatore district recorded 1,563 new cases, keeping up the downward trend for many days since the Tamil Nadu government imposed lockdown.


Coimbatore: On Tuesday, the Coimbatore district recorded 1,563 new cases, keeping up the downward trend for many days since the Tamil Nadu government imposed lockdown.

At present, the overall Covid cases in the district stands at 2,68,33, while the active cases stands at 15,449. The state recorded 11,805 new cases. With this the total cases in the state stands at 23,78,298.

However, the state has seen a massive decline in over all from May. Tamil Nadu reported highest cases between April to May, in which Coimbatore topped.

According to the data available, the state has seen decline in cases after the lockdown in the second wave.

From 36,184 cases in May 21, the state has now reported 11,805, thanks to the lockdown.

Continuing on the top of the table, Coimbatore has also witnessed a steady decline too. The highest cases reported in Coimbatore was on May 27. The district reported 4,734 cases and now reduced has reduced nearly 65% in the last 10 days to 1,563.

Overall deaths due to Covid in the district stands at 1778 today.
