Road in Nanjundapuram sealed as 50 people from same neighbourhood test positive for Covid-19

Coimbatore: The road in Nanjundapuram area has been sealed as 50 people test positive for Covid-19 in the neighbourhood.

Coimbatore district continues to rank as the district with the highest number of Covid-19 cases but there has been a slight drop in fresh Covid cases this past week. The Health Department stated that fresh Covid cases in Coimbatore have dropped by 22 percent, but the fact that the death rate is higher than in Chennai has caused panic among the people.

Although the rate of transmission of the disease has significantly reduced in Coimbatore Corporation areas, the Corporation and the Health Department have made a concerted effort to extensively carry out Covid-19 tests across the district. At West Pudur area in Nanjundapuram, a total of 658 people were tested and about 50 were found to be confirmed with Covid-19 infection.

Following this, the entire street was sprayed with disinfectant and the road was sealed.
