Annur fire station employees infected with Covid-19; Fire Station closed


Coimbatore: Two employees at a fire station in Annur area in Coimbatore district were diagnosed with Covid-19 infection a few days ago.

When the other nine firefighters were tested, the Annur fire station officer and four other firefighters were also confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 along with two other kin of the firefighters. All were subsequently admitted to the Coronavirus treatment center at a private school in Karamadai area.

Annur Health Superintendent Kannappan ordered the fire station to be shut for five days following the firefighters being diagnosed as infected with the Coronavirus. Sanitary staff later sprayed disinfectant around the fire station. Four firefighters from Mettupalayam have been appointed temporarily to operate the Annur Fire Station. All fire engines have also been kept ready for any emergency.
